This medicine has been prescribed for you. Do not pass it on to others. It may harm them, even if their symptoms are the same as yours.
How to Take
  • Use nitroglycerin as directed by your doctor.
  • Take with full glass of water on empty stomach.
  • Swallow this medication whole. Do not crush, chew or break the table. 
  • Missed dose: Taking/ using as soon as possible unless next scheduled dose is within 6 hours; Returning to regular dosing schedule; not doubling doses
  • You may need to check your blood pressure and heart rate often while using nitroglycerin. Talk with your doctor
  • This dosage form dose not relieve angina attacks but rather prevents them.
Dosage and Administration
Ask your doctor now for exact instructions on how to use your nitroglycerin:
Usual adult dose: Oral 2.6 or 6.4 mg every twelve hours, the dosage being increased to every eight hours as needed and tolerated.
Warnings and Precautions

Before using this medication
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist:
  • Hypersensitivity to any nitrates or nitrites or any component of the nitrate prescribed
  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking other medication, especially antihypertensive or hypotension-producing medication, acetylcholine, histamine, norepinephrine, alcohol, opioid (narcotic) analgesics, vasodilators, sildenafil and sympathomimetics.

Anemia, severe
Cerebral hemorrhage
Head trauma, recent
Glaucoma
Hepatic function impairment
Renal function impairment
Hyperthyroidism
Hypotension, with low systolic pressure
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Malabsorption syndrome
Gastrointestinal hypermotility
Myocardial infarction

Warnings
  • Headache as a common effect; should decrease with continuing therapy; checking with physician if continuing or severe.
  • Not taking sildenafil while taking this medication because excessive hypotension and possibly death can occur.
  • This dosage form dose not relieve angina attacks but rather prevents them.
  • Checking with physician before discontinuing medication; gradual dosage reduction may be needed.
  • Caution when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position.
  • Caution in using alcohol, while standing for long periods or exercising.


Pregnancy and Breast-feeding
Pregnancy: FDA Pregnancy Category C. Adequate and well-controlled studies in humans have not been done. 

Breast-feeding: It is not Know whether nitrates are distributed into breast milk. However, problems in humans have not been documented.


Side/Adverse Effects
Those indicating need for medical attention
Incidence rare
Blurred vision; dryness of mouth; headache, severe or prolonged; skin rash

Those indicating need for medical attention only if they continue or are bothersome:
Incidence more frequent (dose-related)
Flushing of face and neck; headache; nausea or vomiting; orthostatic hypotension (dizziness or lightheadedness, specially when getting up from a lying or sitting position); restlessness; tachycardia (fast heartbeat)
Storage
  • Store this medication between 15 and 30˚C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Store this medication in a well-closed container.
  • Do not use Nitroglycerin tablets after the expiry date stated on the label/carton.
